weekend and traditionally the time when cottages are
opened up after the winter. Roads are busy in and out
of Toronto on both ends of the weekend. |

Day - as a patriotic people,
the Canadians celebrate their independence day with
fireworks and parties. |

| Ontario Civic
Holiday - a lesser known
long weekend but another excuse for the whole of Toronto
to evacuate to the country and clog the roads in and
out of the city on Friday and Sunday. Be warned! |

| Labour Day
- Canadian schools usually begin
their winter semester immediately after this long weekend. |
5th September |
| Thanksgiving
- another long weekend traditionally
celebrated with turkey and all the trimmings. Non-winterized
cottages are closed up for the winter. |

| Christmas Break - but
Christmas starts early with houses lit up and festive
music on all radio stations by 1st December. |
