Maple Syrup Festivals Maple syrup is made from 100% pure maple sap and is one of the true tastes of Canada. It is extracted from the Maple trees and is used on pancakes, toast and other sweets. Tapping the tree is done by drilling a hole into the tree trunk and then the sap is drained through a tube. It is a fascinating thing to watch. Festivals are held throughout Ontario between February and April and you will be able to see how it is made and taste some for yourself. Give us a call and we will be able to tell you where the nearest and best festivals are.

Wonders, Parks and Views
Dorset Lookout Tower -www.dorset-tower.com
Built in 1922 originally to keep a watch for forest fires, the lookout tower is situated on the Dorset mountain giving spectacular views of the Dorset landscape. The tower was replaced during the 'Cold War' era and was used as a radar tower. Technology has made the tower's original purposes redundant and the tower has been kept as a tourist attraction ever since. Recently view finders have been added on the tower and a picnic site has been developed, there is also a gift shop. So why not make a day of visiting the tower and exploring its hiking trail where you can see deer and other animals. The hamlet of Dorset is at the foot of the mountain and is well worth a visit for shopping, and fine dining. It is also home to Canada's voted 'Best Country Store' - Robinson's General Store.
